I first came across Andy Petr when I heard his collaboration with Dro Carey - Pollen Program. Following that I’d only heard the impressive ‘Evening Orbit’ and ‘Jack Your Body’. Perhaps more impressive is that Petr is only 19 and about to drop his debut EP ‘Obsession’ via Mixpak on July 10th. Check it out the seven tracks below on Mixpak’s souncloud. Highlights for me on the EP include ‘Yesterday’. ‘Ready’ and ‘I Know’. Mixpak has said that ‘Obsession’ “sounds like an old-school NYC block party brought into the future, with the sounds of R&B, funk and electro-boogie refracted through the prism of garage, bass music and modern-day computer trickery”. It’s a surprising [listen to 'Heaven's Voyeur'] but excellent EP.
