Enough of Maybe’s

OVER THE NEXT WEEK /// i will be making new t-shirts after a good year away from doing it. HC will remain maybe, or a new name will take its place. i will be creating posters on the ideas swimming around in my head. black gold is the basis of it all. going back to politcal posters and phrases, even more ideas for t-shirts using them // photography: take more photographs using film cameras, get the slr’s back out , stop the digital for a while. // start making music again. use the synth more. get the guitars back out. let these ideas live.

Enough of ‘might’s’ and ‘maybe’s’.

time.

Time to get creative again. time for letterpress. typography. posters. decadry. making t-shirts. baking cakes. staying young.

seeing bands. going to exhibitions. doing stuff. keeping going. start bands. make music. experiment. writing. believing.

indivuality. own opinions. debate. self expression. me. you. us and everything else in between.

i’ve spent to much time doing nothing with all these ideas in my head. time to give a fuck and make something happen,

“cos if you want something don’t ask for nothing”.

ARCADE FIRE – HACKNEY EMPIRE

PROBABLY THE BEST GIG I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO.  I SAW THEM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AT ST JOHNS CHURCH AND THEY THEN WERE VERY VERY GOOD, BUT TONIGHT EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT, THE VENUE TO START WAS BEAUTIFUL, THEIR SOUND WAS BRILLIANT, EVERYTHING WAS SO TIGHT AND ARCADE FIRE THEMSELVES WERE JUST INCREDIBLE, THEY PROVED WHY THEY ARE REGARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST BANDS TODAY. THE CROWD MADE IT TOO. EVERYONE THERE WAS JUST IN AWE AND NO ONE COULD STOP SMILING. AND THE VISUALS WORKED SO WELL, THEY FILMED THE WHOLE GIG, AND HAD A MASSIVE BILBOARD WITH LIVE IMAGES BEING PROJECTED ON TO IT, AS WELL AS PRE RECORDED FILM. BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED. ARCADE FIRE ARE MEANT TO BE SEEN LIVE, NOT JUST LISTENED TO. I WAS AMAZED AT HOW MUCH EFFORT HAD BEEN PUT INTO CREATING AN EXPERIENCE FOR THE AUDIENCE. NO ONE’S GOING TO FORGET IT.

I WILL WRITE MORE TOMORROW, BUT JUST COULDN’T HELP MYSELF WRITING A BIT TONIGHT. ALSO I GOT INTERVIEWED BY RADIO ONE FOR A ONE HOUR LONG DOCUMENTARY OF ARCADE FIRE WHICH WILL AIR AT 9PM ON AUGUST 2ND WHEN, THE SUBURBS IS REALSED. I WAS TOO EXCITED WHEN THEY INTERVIEWED BEFORE THE GIG I FORGOT HOW OLD I WAS AND SAID I WAS 18. (IM ALMOST 20). ALSO GOT INTERVIEWED BY RADIO 1 AFTER THE GIG TOO.  ANYWAY GOOD NIGHT. AND GO SEE ARCADE FIRE. ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING.

latitude has finally arrived

well for the next few days i will be away in a hopefully sunny southwold.

im all packed and am soooo excited. its my birthday on friday as well so things really couldn’t be better.

it is though supposed to rain a bit tomorrow and i really hope it doesn’t – i don’t want to put up my tent in the rain—-guess i should stop moaning – its going to be wicked no matter what.

im taking a camera so once im back i shall write some review and post pictures.

again i think i took this sometime at the end of 2007.

bon iver

a lot of people have heard [ or are beginning to hear ] of Bon Iver, which is the music of Justin Vernon.

beautiful music.

The idea that he recorded his debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago in a remote cabin in Wisconsin [ which he was in for four months ] to me is incredible, and it obviously worked. I wish i could do something like that, to be alone, away from it all and see what happens. To write songs, or perhaps just to write words, thoughts, ideas is something that I would love to do. A blog i guess allows me to do that, but I don’t write everything I want to, because some it’s too personal, or I just too worried to what people, my friends, family would think. I wish I didn’t care, but I do. I love the fact with a blog you can write and people all around the world have the ability to read your posts.

One day I hope I go to a remote place, or somewhere that doesn’t restrict me, where I can write a book full of my thoughts, or put those thoughts/ideas into songs. I doubt I’l come close to achieving the beauty of Bon Iver for example, but I at least want to give it a go and see what happens.
